Anomali Facilitates MDG Workshop in International Youth Forum

In June 26th 2008, Anomali took part to facilitate a workshop session in International Youth Forum in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The theme of the workshop was “Youth Participation in the Millennium Development Goal”. Mr. Reggy Hasibuan represented Anomali together with Mr. Ibnu Najib and Ms. Eni Hidayati from Asian Youth Leaders Climate Forum. The participants in the session were 30 young people from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Suriname, Sudan and Cameroon, each with their own expertise in MDG elements.

The participants responded well to Anomali presentation regarding small-scale solution to Climate Change in Malang Municipality, and admitted that the story inspired them to react accordingly in relevance to MDG. Even after lunch, Mr. Reggy showed the participants how to separate the rubbish from lunch box, organic waste, plastic waste and plastic cups. This action has shown the participants that steps to response to Climate Change an Global Warming can be done anytime, anywhere easily.

Anomali also facilitated the participants to create actions plans in accordance to their expertise and to create an individual commitment for further involvement in the MDG. Anomali is now a part of the MD International Youth Network as the result of the successful workshop.

Anomali Rocks English Economic Club Debate Competition

Muhammadiyah University’s annual English Economic Club Debate Competition was held in 16-18th April 2008 and participated by students from high school across Malang Municipality and surrounding districts.

Three debate clubs under Anomali won all three titles consecutively plus the best speaker title in the competition. EEC from SMAN 5 won the first place followed by CODE from SMAN 4 and St. Albert High school. Our sincere congratulations for the winners.Our congratulations also for Cinantya from EEC SMAN 5 as the best speaker for the competition.

St. Albert Highschool is Anomali’s newest client which about to make their own English Debate Club. Due to their increasing achievement in Debate tournaments under Anomali, the students are getting a moral boost to create their own English Debate Club. Anomali appreciates this initiative greatly and wishes that the presence of their English Debate Club may increase the overall Debate quality in Malang Municipality.

Anomali Delegation in Asia-Pacific Forestry Week

In 21-26 April 2008, Anomali supported by British Council managed to send a delegation to participate in Asia-Pacific Forestry Week in Hanoi, Vietnam. Mr. Reggy Hasibuan from Anomali along with several others young leaders from Asia Pacificparticipated in the event. They are all a part of Asian Young Leaders Climate Forum (AYLCF), an International network of young people all across Asia and beyond working together to mitigate climate change.

During the event, Mr. Reggy Hasibuan spread the news regarding Anomali and it’s influence in environmental issues in Malang Municipality to many International spectators. He was also interviewed by Tien Phong newspaper, a leading newspaper in Vietnam and several TV channels.As the result, Anomali was greatly applauded and appreciated by the participants of the Forestry Week which includes young people, lobbyists, bureaucrats, echelons and top level officials from multiple countries. Mr. Reggy has also managed to establish a network with Vietnamese young people and people from Indonesian Forestry Department.

Anomali Delegation in UNFCCC

Anomali sent a representative to United Nation Forum on Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) held in Bali from 3-15 December 2007. Mr. Reggy Hasibuan among another candidate was selected from 250 Indonesian candidates and 32 international candidates to participate in the event.

During the Kyoto Protocol birthday in UNFCCC Mr. Reggy Hasibuan managed to speak in behalf of International Young Leaders regarding the need of International Youth Network to mitigate climate change, along with two other youth representatives from Japan and Australia. Later, he shook hand with United Nation Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon and the picture taken was shown in the front cover of many newspapers.

Anomali is now a part of International Youth Network called Asian Young Leaders Climate Forum. Everyone is welcome to visit the website here and take part in the ongoing discussions regarding environmental issues and possible solutions

All-Java English Debate Competition for Military Academies and Universities

In October 26th until October 28th Anomali Youth Empowerment Center has successfully assisted the Indonesian Air Force Academy to hold the first All-Java English Debate Competition for Military Academies and Universities. This event was followed by cadets from all Indonesian Military Academies and students from Universities across Java. To ensure the quality of the tournament, Anomali has invited experienced debaters from all across Java to participate as adjudicators.

As the result of the event, the Champion title was taken by the Indonesian Naval Academy (AAL) followed by the Indonesian Military Academy (Akmil) as the first runner-up and Indonesian Air Force Academ (AAU) as the second runner-up. The First Best speaker went to Cadet Sergeant Panji from AAU, followed by Cadet Sergeant Aditya from Akmil and Ms. Marina from Indonesian Islamic University (UII)

Anomali would like to congratulate all winners and best speaker and especially Anomali’s own Mr. Rizal that has assisted the event thoroughly. Anomali would also like to extend our gratitude to all the universities that have participated in the event which are Gajah Mada University (UGM), President University, Indonesian Islamic University (UII), Surabaya Public University (UNESA), Jogyakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMY), and Surabaya Engineering Institute (ITS).

Third Consecutive Victory for Malang Public Polytechnic

Malang Public Polytechnic has never failed to participate in the National Polytechnic English Debate Championship which is held annually for every Polytechnic Institutions all across Indonesia. This year, in August 19th-August 23rd, Malang Public Polytechnic managed to send two teams to participate in the event held by Bandung Postal Polytechnic and both teams have scored a remarkable achievement in the championship. Team A, whose members were Ms. Wika, Ms. Eren and Ms. Dizzi was crowned as the champion of the tournament, while team B, whose members were Ms. Aming, Mr. Ali and Ms. Vita was the 1st runner-up.

It was a perfect all Malang final, proving that Anomali has succeeded in assisting Malang Public Polytechnic to still be the best in English Debate in National level. This victory also marked as the third consecutive victory for Malang Public Polytechnic.

Anomali would also like to congratulate Mr. Aribawa as the coach for the teams. He is a very happy man right now. Oh, and congratulations as well for Ms. Wika as the Best Speaker for the tournament.

Integration and Gallantry Week for Cadets (PIKTAR) 2007

This event remarked the first cooperation between Anomali and Military Institutions. Anomali was requested to assist in the event through Mr. Rizal since this year’s PIKTAR would include an English Debate Competition for the cadets.

All military academies from all across Indonesia participated in the event such as; the Indonesian Military Academy (Akmil), Indonesian Naval Academy (AAL), Indonesian Air Force Academy (AAU) and Indonesian Police Academy (Akpol). As the result of the event, Akmil has come out as the champion followed by AAL as the 1st and 2nd runner ups. Cadet Sergeant Panji from AAL has come out as the Best Speaker of the tournament.

Anomali would like to thank you the committee from AAL for their warm welcome and also the tour to their campus. Spending our nights in barracks was simply unforgettable.

Establishment of CODE and DDS

After enduring many months in composing, discussing and lobbying, two of the high schools in Malang Municipality have finally re-formed their conversation club into a debate club. Anomali has also assisted them in creating the logos, finding the mottos and establishing the club’s constitution.

Malang Public High School IV has reformed their previous English Conversation Club Stetsa into a Debate Club named Cross-Over Debate Explosion (CODE), while Lawang Public School has reformed their previous English Conversation Club into Dauntless Debate Society (DDS) with their motto Free Your Mind Fight For Future.

Anomali would like to thank Mr. Aribawa as their debate coach that has made it possible for the students to have their own English Debate Clubs.

Anomali Rocks ISDC Selection

East Java Education Department in cooperation with Education TV (TV-E) has convened the East Java High School Competition to select representative from all High School students in East Java to compete in Indonesian High School English Debate Competition (ISDC).

Schools that are I partnership with Anomali has scored a magnificent achievement in this event. Malang Public High School IV achieved the position of 3rd runner-up while I came out as the champion.

Anomali would like to congratulate two extraordinary students that we have assisted which are Mr. Rivan from Sidoarjo Public High School and Ms. Marinda from Malang Public High School IV that have managed to grab the title of the 1st and the 3rd Best Speaker, and thus represent East Java in the National Tournament.
